Araucana thread anyone?

that's what I am dealing with. tailed birds with tufts are called araucanas and without tufts ameraucanas. I still look for araucana pullets. at the moment I have 1 cockerel that has just escaped a dog attack. lost other 5 chickens though.
Ann Charles always has some if you're willing to spend a little extra money.

Is my blue cockerel still blue?

I recently hatched a blue Araucana that has a tail and no tufts, at least it doesn't appear at this point, one may be teeny tiny. Pretty sure he is a cockerel. I won't be breeding him to my Araucanas but I wonder if there is something I can do with him breeding wise as an outcross for egg color. I also have Cream Legbars and Silverudd's Blue. Any opinions?

with dark egg layers (marans, welsummers, even isa brown) you can breed olive eggers.

Thank you. I have a couple of dark laying Cinnamon Queens (basically the same as an ISA Brown) that I can offer him as a family. My Silverudd's lay green but I only have 5 pullets/hens right now, still building up my flock with them.

I've always wondered how an Ameraucana x Araucana chick would look like, so did a project hatch a few weeks back. This is the result. Baby ended up being rumpless, mostly black, has muffs but lacking beard AND has double tuffs.

I think it's a gal. Plan to keep her for fun.
