Araucana thread anyone?

Hi everyone,

I just got an email from a breeder who is working on Mille Fleur bantam araucanas and making some good progress. She has a bantam pair for sale $50.00 plus shipping if anyone is interested. Let me know and I will forward her email on to you.

Old Time - Long Time Gone - Occasional Lurker... thought I'd pop in an say "Hi!"

Wolf here - and Araucanas are the breed I have! I had lousy health for awhile, and just test-ran my incubator and have a glitch - I don't know if the electronic thermostat is off - or my digital hygrothermometer needs replacing... I'm trying to figure out which. My handful of girls are over 2 YO, but there's a younger roo with his daddy in with 'em. Nothing's hatched yet, though. I may need some new stock. I was checking around - Jody's only selling eggs, and I don't know about my incubator yet. I'm in Central Virginia, here.
This was my First Roo...

He was tufted on both sides but in this pic the girls relieved him of one earring. He was rumpless. His son is a white heavy-tufted on both sides and is also rumpless, and his grandson is a black-copper rumpless. The girls are a mix all all four types.
I've been slowly leaning towards blacks and blues cause the whites seem to get picked first by aerial predators.

Nice roo Wolf. I know several people here have birds for sale.

If anyone is interested in a bantam mille araucana pair. They are still available. The lady that has them can't ship them to Canada. So let me know. She is here in California.

California's too far. I don't think my Coastie son's coming out this way (Oregon) for a visit anytime soon - so no one to shuttle them, and I don't trust mail that far away. Wish someone was closer to Piedmont area of Virginia - then I'd go gettem meself!

But East Coast, Central Area of USA with mail - the closer the point of origin is - the better. That window of OK weather - between hypothermia- and hyperthermia-causing is sooo small! Gotta time it all just right! So easy to miss that window!
And I really do wonder if the postal workers closer to the urban-centers mistreat the packages of eggs and chicks cause they personally frown on people keeping chickens in their yards. It takes just one individual in the line with a Bad Spirit - to ruin one's safe-delivery. Some don't consider the package is going to someone in farming-country. I know for a fact that my local postal workers just adore baby chick, poult, keets, etc., and handle egg packages like the Life they hold. When I get broke eggs, or dying chicks - I've traced the package coming through some Big urban-center.

I just don't want my flock to peter out! I darn-near LIVE on the eggs! (And I hate store-eggs!
