Araucana thread anyone?

Illia, will probably be better with the colors but 1st pic is a boy and 2nd pic looks like my pullets from that pen, but I do see brown on the shoulder so not totally sure.

i just go with my gut, 9 times out of 10 i'm right. the red one really creams male, the way it looks to me and how it interacts with the others. the other one not sure, just something about the look. I hope i'm wrong! the blue one i'm on the fence about, we'll see... suppose i should have posted a pic of it's growing tail haha, so here it is:

Hopefully i can end up with more blues/blacks that are rumpless and atleast 1 tufted that i can breed this one in with.
Fingers crossed, because i really do like blues!

I am only going to send eggs from the birchen pen - for blacks ( one hen is black ), blue pen - for blues ( everyone is blue), and ginger pen - I actually get blues from there ( I have a double tufted blue pullet that hatched out of there this year).

Like I said I will be breathing the words pullet all over these eggs. Hope it works. I love the soft blue color of the blue one. That peachy one is such a pretty color though.

i'll be hanging on to everyone who hatches to see how they finish out and get the best pairings that way! I'm way to new to proper araucanas to try to have early ideas about who to sell, and who to keep lol! hope you all are prepared for alot of photos from now till fall haha.

Here's a new picture of Lucy, is she buff? I have been calling her red but she's a lot lighter now. She has some patterning on her neck and still has a couple of blue wing feathers but I think they may moult out like the others.

Here's one for you all, what color would you call her? I'm thinking it's a her anyway. Hatched Mar 4th, a yellow chick. Is this what dominant white does? I was thinking recessive white covers everything and dominant white allows red to bleed through plus this chicks down was all yellow. My other whites have been patterned (chipmunk) and feathered out sooo white.

On topic....Araucana chick with my granddaughter, Brianna. They (Son, DIL and 3 grandkids) were here a week from Maryland and are city kids. Brianna has it in her blood though and soaked up every moment of farm life. I set eggs to hatch while they were here and had 1 then 3 later hatch so I felt very lucky to be able to share this with the kids. My Daughter in Law was as impressed as the kids were. They went to the zoo while they were here and when they got back, she said we had a better zoo here than they did and the animals were more friendly!

Absolutely precious, smoothmule. I love the look on Brianna's face - (not to mention the look on the chicks face!).

so happy they hatched while your grandchildren were there. What a cute picture. Mine always peek in the incubator when they are here to see if anything is hatching
