Araucana thread anyone?

absolutely love the color of your buffish hen. The black color in there is beautiful. I hate when the jealous birds pick the pretty birds tufts. I have a red roo very similar in color to yours and he just glows also. Here is his pic.

i'm guessing i found the ad you're talking about - as this is now posted:

Bidders please look at photos carefully as I am getting a lot of flack from the other Araucana sellers.
Our birds are are a beautiful mix of Araucana & Americana-giving you the buyer true blue egg layers with gorgeous color. I show pics of their offspring so you know what you are buying-I cannot ad anymore photos or I would show some tufted/rumpless hens. We have spent the past 5yrs on this flock to achieve only blue eggs & colorful birds!

Also complaints that the Black Star is not a recognized breed but hatcheries do sell them as a prolific brown egg layer.

i hope none of you are giving her flack over the black star - - the breed may not be "recognized", but it's certainly a hybrid a lot of people have - - including the folks here on these forums. also, there are a lot of people who call birds araucanas that aren't. this is in, at least some, part due to hatcheries doing the same thing.

just sayin'.

one last thing: if you want to truly help the buyer, post the question so all can see it when they read the ad - - i don't know how that's done, but i see it on ebay all the time.​

I have been getting sick ( cold, flu ) and that has made me feisty apparantly. I got into it on facebook today with someone over a dumb post. A lady had posted that she had rehomed a rooster and it got attacked by 3 coyotes while being tethered outside. The bird survived. She was merely expressing her joy that the bird survived. Another poster went on a rant about how tethering is only is used for fighting birds and what were these people into. They should never be allowed to have chickens again.

I told the person that they shouldn't comment on things they new nothing about, then I explained that tethering can be useful if you have quite a few breeding pens and want to let all your birds out to play in the sun and grass. You tether your roosters away from each other and the hens run loose. Usually you have guard dogs watching your flock for you. I did also mention that he had restored my faith in humanity, NOT!, because he assumed the people were into fighting cocks.

As you can imagine it got interesting from there. Boy did he go off and even mentioned how sick he was with BYC %#@&^$ and their attitudes. He said I twisted his words. I don't think I did. I finally stopped posting after he told me to get off the forum and that he had personally chased other people off there. Then he asked the moderators to remove all our posts because someone couldn't handle the truth.

Just a few minutes ago someone asked a question about dubbing. There were 6 or 7 replys and then he posted and started out saying that " he wanted to make it clear that he was not saying dubbing was for cock fighting". I had to laugh. He sounded like such a petulant child.

I wonder how many of the 176 people that subscribe to that facebook page are BYC'r and were offended. The posts have since been removed, but really how rude.

Only the seller, upon answering the question, can post the question and answer. It is an option they can choose when they answer it. A buyer cannot force a seller to post the question.

I don't consider what you wrote flack, Lanae, merely clarification and education. If she wanted to sell Araucanas, they she should only post pictures of the rumpless and tufted birds, not any other birds. Which makes it seem that they are selling completely mixed birds, and should be very clear in making this known.

You cant post the question so all can see and if you saw her ad before there was no mention of them being mixed breed chickens. They were presented as pure. No one gave her flack about the black stars. My comment to her was about the birds pictured. Yes she is giving away free black star eggs big deal. The ad was for araucana and she has birds listed that are obviously not araucana.

Please go back and read my post a couple of pages back. It is my entire conversation with her before you accuse us of giving her flack.
