Araucana thread anyone?

Then no they are not araucana. You will find as they get older they will puffy cheeks and the look of a beard. Those are Easter Egger chickens, which is a mixed breed chicken. You will love them for their sweet nature and colorful eggs.

Well, looks like one eBay seller who got some flack for selling mutts under the Araucana name is up to some new tricks. You know how it was pointed out that there with no photos of tufted birds (despite claims of having them) and lots of pics of muffed and bearded EEs, and one rumpless bird? Look at the very last picture. It is tiny, and very nice compared to the others. Suspicious? I knew I'd seen it elsewhere. It was stolen from this website, on their Araucana page. So that eBay seller, to better scam others, just did a quick google search, saved the best pic (and didn't even blow it up to its proper size

), and used it on their eBay listing.

I hate art theft, it just burns me up. I emailed the website owner pointing it out. If it were my picture, I'd be on the warpath!

I just checked the listing and the photo is gone. The owner of the photo probably pitched a little fit, as was their right, so the owner of the ad removed it. I wonder what she will put up next. I also wonder if they are mistaking muffs for tufts when they list some of their birds as tufted.

It is a nasty weather day today here in not so sunny California. I ran around late last night making sure my pens were covered and dry for this rainstorm. We really need the rain, I just hate feeding the animals in it.

All my baby chickens are toasty warm in their brooders on my covered deck. I may just go have a cup of coffee and sit infront of my windows and watch the rain fall.

We had CA weather all day yesterday. Marine layer all day. If it weren't for the trees I would have thought I was in Watsonville.

Rare but wondrous sunny weather here.

The birds have really been enjoying it, and have been trekking out further in the pasture than ever before. Normally they won't dare go too close to the back (probably because that's where a bobcat ran off to, and where a Marans hen was stolen from when broody) but my excess number of roosters in the layer flock have been leading them everywhere. It's nice to know one has well-armed good fliers for roosters. And very noisy when it comes to birds flying over.

My issue is not with people who just don't know. It's hard when the hatcheries keep calling their EE's "Araucana/Easter Egger/Ameraucana as though they were interchangeable. That's only frustrating. What actually irritates, is when you have someone who will argue with you that you don't know what you're talking about and despite sending them to the ACA website and other sites that tell the history and type of the Araucana, they are determined that they have Araucana's and that muffs and beards and tufts are all the same. Some people are determined to argue though so it's pointless. Still, I do try to educate and I mostly get good responses

Some people just do not understand that they are VERY different, like a Pomeranian and a Great Dane are different. Most people wouldn't confuse those two.

I have only had chickens for like a year now. If a hatchery sells somethin under the name aracana I can only assume that's what I'm gettin. If its not true why don't they call them EE's? It's not my fault I assume thats what they r
