UN SUBSCRIBING FROM THIS THREAD!

Look what happened to my araucana chick....someone pulled on his tuft and has almost pulled it out! would it hurt him if I clipped the feather off way down low next to the skin so the other chickens will leave it alone.

AGAIN!!

I will figure it out for myself!

no need to be cranky about it, and no, it wouldn't hurt it to have the feathers clipped close to the skin, just watch the little skin bump(theres a name for it but i'm blanking lol) that the duft has at its core. some birds really have tuft envy and pick, i;ve seen them peck at my whites tufts. might want to try a bit of anti peck if its still in the same pen.

You really, really don't need to get so uptight about it. Often people's questions go unanswered for sometime.

The pullet shown above is a light blue. There's some nice residual lacing yes but don't get too excited, as it may fade over time/age.

I am so sorry we did not rush to answer your question. If you had looked through this thread you will have noticed alot of questions get overlooked because we all lead busy lives and sometimes the ones who know the answers don't check back in untill several pages have gone by. It you want to leave over that then good riddance, we don't need hotheads or people who get their feelings hurt over the wind blowing, since this thread is a populated by kind caring people who like discussing the araucana and helping each other out. You could have just as easily reposted your photos and asked again your question and none of us would have minded. If you are not a hothead nor do you get your feelings hurt over the wind blowing, then welcome. We would value your addition to our group.

In answer to your two questions, the pullet is laced but she appears to be too light to be blue, she could be a splash laced, however someone who works with blue can give you a better answer.

Regarding the tuft issue, yes you can trim it back, but some blue cote on the peduncle ( flap of skin where the tuft grows) that will keep it from getting pecked more and let it heal. As the bird gets older hopefully she will learn to keep her tuft away from those who are jealous of her beauty.
