I know these girls are barely 3 weeks, but I wanted to ask if all these Welsummer chicks look like pullets based on their head triangles? (Since they are supposed to be more easily sexed at hatch.) I feel like three look very dark and clear, and three are a little fuzzier.

Of course, I didn't see what they all look like mixed together at the hatchery to gauge what's normal range of variation for their line, so not seeing a known male to compare... 🤷

I can take better eyeliner shots of the ones in question if that helps.
Thanks!

Look at their breasts. If they're feathering in reddish they're females.
Males would be feathering in mostly black
That's an amazing tip! Thank you! I will double check tomorrow, but so far I have only noticed reddish. Now we're all snuggled in for a nice evening cuddle so I won't disturb anyone. 😍😍😍

I'm raising 4 welsummers to coop age for a friend. The females feathered in much faster than the one potential cockerel. He has dark chest feathers and they all have red colored chest feathers. And his comb is very red compared to theirs. They will be 4 weeks in a few days. First 2 pictures are the one I believe is a cockerel, third is a pullet. You can see the difference in color especially on their chests.
