Are "Ameraucana" and "Easter Egger" the same bird?

I wanted blue and green eggs this year. I bought Ameraucana chicks at the store, as well as purchased Easter Egger hatching eggs from a breeder.

The Ameraucana chicks were all females.

The dozen Easter Egger eggs hatched, and only gave me 3 roosters, no hens.

I wanted Easter Egger hens. Are the Ameraucana hens the same breed, and can I mate the Easter Egger with the Ameraucana?

Easter eggers are a strain of Amerucanas. So you can breed them. Just bred for egg color and other traits.

Although there is much debate about EE and Ameraucana being the same breed...

To me, they ARE the same bird except the EE does not fit the standard of perfection in feather pattern for the Ameraucana. In reality what you got as Ameraucana are in fact probably EE. Ameraucana will be have a specific color (like black, blue, lavender, birchen) and go for much more than $3.

Sadly, getting chicks from breeders will often result in many boys and I happen to excel at hatching them! Interesting that a "breeder" would sell EE. That means as a breeder they probably got their stock from the hatchery as well.

Yes, you can mate them together.

EE's are a mutt, using true Ameraucana's bred to other breeds to produce them for blue, green, pink, white, or tan eggs depending on what they are bred with. I have black Ameraucana's which cost a lot more than your average EE. I also have blue EEs. I love them both. Too many hatcheries and feed stores mark them as Ameraucana's, they aren't. Cackle Hatchery is now selling Black, Blue, and Lavender varieties of Ameraucana's.

No. EE's are cross breeds or mutts. Ameraucana breed true and have a standard.

No, Ameraucana's have slate colored lets and feet. EE's will have slate or green colored legs. You can easily look the standard up by googling. Mine aren't show quality, but I love them and their large blue eggs. Very friendly too.
