Are Aseels Right for Me?

I'm ordering a few special order chicks and was wondering if an Aseel would be a good idea to get. I would only get one to raise with three other chicks, an Araucana, a Belgian d'Anvers, and a Sebright. So it would just be the four of them together; I just want hens, no cocks. After they're full grow, I would integrate them into my big adult flock. The only cock in that flock is a tiny Bearded d'Uccle, who thinks he's mean, but can't do much harm. If I did get an Aseel hen, would she fight with my d'Uccle cock?

I've only read about them and that they are quarrelsome. Here is what the Livestock Conservancy says about Asil/Aseel:
M/F both can be very aggressive, even at a young age
Best in warm climates; can tolerate some cold, but need to be kept dry
Breed makes excellent crosses for the production of broilers; very hardy and predator savvy; exceedingly protective mothers

Entirely up to you just be ready for potential aggression and have a plan.

I keep a pair of Aseels and I believe you should NOT add an Aseel chick to the mix. It would likely be fine with its three other clutch mates but when introduced to the older flock, it would likely kill a few birds starting with your rooster. One must be careful even introducing a Aseel cockerel to an Aseel hen. The hen will try to kill him. If the cockerel is not ready, she will succeed. He must be able to defeat her before she will mate with him. I keep my Aseel pair separated from my flock. An Aseel is in a category all by itself. An Aseel can pick out another Aseel in a large flock. In my opinion, they are for an experienced poultry keeper, not a novice, not an intermediate.

Good grief....thanks for the advice. I've raised chickens for eight years now, but I'm such a softie, I'm not sure if I could handle a bird that aggressive. I'll just stick to the bantams!

Nothing I can say that hasn't been said. Aggressive birds, even the hens. Your bitty roo would not be happy with you at all.

I had to tie the legs of my Aseel hen(she is 2 years old) because she would not stop fighting her mate(a young promising 8 month old cockerel)

you can keep a couple sisters together for awhile or mother daughter but if you ever separate them you cant put them back together. asils are aggressive even chicks can kill each other
