Are BOs and Austrlrps TOO broody?

If you order from McMurray, make sure to include some of their RIRs! They are excellent dependable layers. My absolute favorite for high brown egg production.

Another thing about McMurray (I don't know if you've ordered from them before?) is that they are very good at sexing. I bought 70 chicks, males and females of several breeds in spring 2009 and they were 100% accurately sexed!

You dear, thank you. I was thinking about rir s................no never ordered from them, yet

I have a very mixed group, sussex, BO's Australops,Brahmas, EE, leghorns, Lakenvelder, and now some mutt's. My Sussex, BO, and an EE all went broody last summer, BO's are very good mamma's. I only have 2 and they both went broody last summer. all my birds are from McMurray's ours were not 100% perfectly sexed but our EE rooster is a doll and has never attacked any one. He has also stepped between other roosters that have tried to go after us funny looking people. the leghorns lay almost every day even through the cold Mi. weather. the others are not such good winter layers.

We have one BO (& 1 EE, 1 BPR 1 GLW). The Buff is super friendly & probably the best layer in the bunch. She gave us our first double yolk recently.
She's 8 months and has yet to go broody.
