Are Cheetos organic?

(As I lay here typing on my cell phone, with my pet rooster laying on chest). Yes really!

The definition of organic varies based on what the product is and who is establishing that definition. Are Cheetos made with corn that was treated with pesticides? Did the whey powder come from milk that was organic? Who knows? Who could ever tell the difference? Of course you can see and taste the difference between a home-grown, cage-free egg over a mass produced egg. But I wouldn't say that difference is due to the hen never eating anything that wasn't organic.

I have a rooster, that no matter what I feed it. (And I try to buy all the best, healthy feed I can find) drinks only purified water, or (even bottled water) sometimes. And after these three long years, ( Has never laid an egg).
But I’m still hopeful

Maybe I could catch people by using peacock instead of rooster. (About egg laying).

Please don’t assume that all organic chicken owners are snobs. The majority of us don’t brag about our organic lifestyle, including our chickens. We’ve just made the same choice you did, but on the opposite team. As an old hippie who loves Mother Earth, I’ve been organic for over 40 years. You’d have to ask me to find out, because it’s such a natural part of my life that I don’t talk about it. It would be like asking me if I breathe. Everyone will feed their chickens what they want. People like me consider the toll it takes on this earth that our next generations will inhabit before we feed or use anything with pesticides, or any sorts of chemicals in them. We don’t judge you for your choices, please don’t judge us. I think you’re taking it a littler personally when someone discusses their organic flock.

We feed organic and farm organic. If you really want to understand the benefits of it you’d have to do quite a bit of reading. And even still- its a personal choice.
Feeding organic feed to any animals is a higher out of pocket cost. However, the cost of feed that has been purchased on farms where chemicals and GMOs are being used extends far beyond what you are paying at the counter. In both human health and agricultural health.
For us, feeding organic and raising our chickens organically creates a strong and healthy flock. That being said- ‘organic’ is a trendy word and a lot of people don’t understand what it fully means to be organic it just makes them feel good to buy it.

So I thought I would throw this out for opinions. A coworker was talking about some eggs I gave her and saying she could tell by the taste that they were organic. But the fact is I do not think I can say that they are. To start with I always start my chicks on medicated feed (Purina) It may not be organic but I have always had healthy chicks and don't see a reason to change. I also feed Purina Layena Crumbles to my adult birds and I do not believe that it is organic feed either, but they lay nice big eggs with thick shells and great orange yolks. They also get table scraps including leftovers from fast food places, old pizza, and yes, Cheetos. My wife buy the big bags of crunchy Cheetos, and since I am doing keto, they don't all get eaten and, when the start to go stale I give them to the chickens. this is by far their favorite treat and they attack them immediately and with gusto. I have a friend who only feeds organic, the feed costs 5 times as much and he has to add oyster shell for extra calcium. His eggs are comparable but he often talks about how thin and fragile the shells are (sometimes puts his thumb through one as he picks it up). So what, if anything is the advantage of "organic" eggs and can I consider mine organic if the girls are eating Cheetos?

I feed organic feed and I think the thread is fun. I think the OP was more tongue in cheek in reference to uninformed people who think organic eggs somehow are tastier than others. I think my eggs taste even better knowing they are fed in, what I view as, a responsible way. More of a mental taste difference. After all, food tastes of your thoughts while you're eating it. It's been proven.
