I know , right.. So why is it no one else seems to appreciate my efforts to keep the office running on schedule? I blame it on millennials not being as time conscious as older people are.

Yep, I certainly wasn’t suggesting every farm operation is turning big profits, but the last couple of decades have been pretty darn good to farmers on whole, at least compared to previous decades.

I’ll give you a hint though, the key phrase to my previous post was probably “3rd generation”

my friend that crops, stopped by earlier while I was burning leaves, and was talking about delivering on grain contracts in a couple weeks... and it occurred to me that what 007Sean said about the middleman might be key to the folks I mentioned too.

most higher profit operations probably have some of that middleman action built into their business model too

Most years I break even, about every 3rd year it will turn a nice profit. Two years ago, I was in the red.
There are a few that make alot but they have huge operations, they might as well be called commercial farms.
My farmer is one of those that makes a ton of money, takes his 'working' vacations in winter. he's either President or on the Board of several Organic Growers Associations, he attends them around his vacations, and has gone high tech with all of his operations....but his 'kind' are few and far between.

Wait I thought you were telling us the farmer didn’t make the money the middle man did?

If I understand correctly, I would say he is the the farmer and you are the landowner.
