Are Cooper Maran eggs that much darker than other brown eggs?

Like the other posters have said and shown, yes they are that much darker and actually flavorful and rich eggs. This winter I have been including one or two in each dozen eggs I sell and my customers for farm fresh eggs love them. Here is a dozen that has one Isa Brown egg in for comparison.

I guess I am different from others, Take a look at the Marans chicken do not just go by egg color. Anyone that knows anything about a Camera can make an egg look just as dark as they like.
There is nothing wrong with buying eggs from ebay or anywhere else as long as you do some breeder research. From my experience BYC is no different that any other egg venue. If you are only looking for a marans that will lay a dark egg then do not worry about the Marans type. The mixed up junk will sometimes lay a darker egg. Don

THanks flagardengirl and Geebs.....from you two that is a good compliment. You both set the standard for dark BCM eggs.

I am happy with the size and shape of the eggs. They started lighter and keep getting darker as the gals lay. Now if I could get rid of this -11* weather we had this morning....sure makes chicken raising more challenging.

Thanks Dave. That is a pic from last year. That is what I would get in one day, some days I got more and some days less, that is ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens, thats not showing or counting the quail and phesants eggs I would get, now I have peacocks and swans.

I have wanted to get some Marans, but have also looked into other dark egg laying breeds because.. .. there is a huge because here. I was at my freinds house who had copper and cou cou Marans, I ask her about the eggs and she showed me 2 incubators full of eggs. They were maran eggs but could have come from my RIRs or Orphs, they didn't look any diffrent to me. She also said the Coppers didn't really lay that well either. So Im still looking for my dark egg layer.
