Don, I myself have not been on the Marans thread much, as you know...I just was SERIOUSLY wondering if you saw something that told you a pic had been tampered with. I was not accusing you of anything. Me, I am not good with computers, and I would probably not be able to tell.
It's really hard to get a true pic of a dark egg or green/blue/olive colored ones as well. It's a huge frustration for me. The pic of the eggs in my avatar was one of the VERY VERY few that, after looking at the pic and looking at the eggs on my desk, I was thrilled with, as it was truly exactly as they appear in person. But, to duplicate it...well...I'm at a loss!
You're for SURE right about doing your research...recall you & I had a discussion on the forum about buyers doing research into the sellers. I wholeheartedly agree, and tell folks to most definitely do your research!
With Marans, I keep egg shells that I can send to folks if they should want to know the darkest my girls lay. Often, folks get upset when they see egg color as it does get lighter the longer the hens lay. I always keep the first darkest eggs my gals lay so that folks will see how dark the potential is that of the eggs they hatch, the gals will lay that dark as well.
On the photo tampering. I find it sad that someone would feel the need to do that. Goodness, it's just so much easier to be honest!
