Ducks are seasonal layers and stress can stop egg production too. I understand you have lots of Drakes and now have everyone confined to a barn/Shed.Well, we have heat-tape water for them at all times. I build the hay up around the totes so it’s not too bad on the floor. I haven’t free-fed, because, quite frankly, they have never left food behind. I don’t know, I’m weighing options know. Oh, and, BTW, they were locked inside yesterday...no eggs. So, I am the only duck farmer ever, no never get one single egg.
Agree! With your 1:1 drake on duck ratio, the poor girls are likely too stressed. Laying eggs requires some alone-time and serenity…Ducks are seasonal layers and stress can stop egg production too. I understand you have lots of Drakes and now have everyone confined to a barn/Shed.
Not many..I don’t count because it would overwhelm my hubby..3-4? Really no clueHow many days does a 50 pound bag of food last you?
Yes, it’s ridiculous, but, still not one egg no matter how long they are kept in the barn...never one egg...@Duckfarmer1 are you seeing a lot of breeding right now with your ducks?
No ones confined...they were confined two days due to thanksgiving. They are let out every morning until dark. I have tried to let them out around 8:30 to see if I’d get an egg, ever..but no. We just don’t care about the eggs anymore...I just worry I’m not doing something rightDucks are seasonal layers and stress can stop egg production too. Stressed out Hens...Yes, it’s ridiculous, but, still not one egg no matter how long they are kept in the barn...never one egg...
