Are finches and sparrows a threat?

Hi, Just wondering if you guys worry about sparrows and finches passing diseases onto your pheasants. I'm building a new pen for my Amhersts and am debating which cage wire to use. The 1X1 inch 16gauge welded wire is WAAAAAY cheaper than the 1/2X1 but I'm thinking the songbirds could get through the 1X1, right? Is that a threat that is worth worring about? Thanx guys!

I would get the smaller wire. The dang sparrows will eat alot of the feed and then there is always a chance they could bring in diseases.
