These are what I looked at.What was the chart you found? I would like to see the info you mentioned. I too know nothing about genetics, but I’m very interested.

Oooh, thanks for this.
You're welcome. One chart is for Wyandottes I think. I don't know if breed matters at all or it's just color? I'd guess color but I might be wrong.Oooh, thanks for this.
Blue doesn't breed true. When you cross two blues, you get Blue, Black, and SplashThough that's kind of strange. Her eggs should have hatched 100% blue with the old rooster. Then again he was - I don't know what he was. The barred rock chicks we got from that lady weren't and I don't have any of them anymore.
I don't know. The hen should have slightly better breeding. We have a number of different roosters right now. If anybody goes broody in the next week or so maybe I'll give them some of her eggs and see what happens.
Generally we don't plan to keep any of the chicks we hatch - with the exception of a nice RIR/BO pullet that I think might make a nice laying hen.
Our run is not that big so we can't just keep every one that looks cute or whatever. My husband hatches them for meat.
I was just looking where it says a splash hen with a black rooster gives 100% blue? But then I have no idea what that (mostly black) rooster really was. That's one reason I switched out for the BO.Blue doesn't breed true. When you cross two blues, you get Blue, Black, and Splash
Btw - your avatar is an Andalusia blue? I just saw those for the first time. The hens look really nice to me.Blue doesn't breed true. When you cross two blues, you get Blue, Black, and Splash
Weird, that doesn't sound rightI was just looking where it says a splash hen with a black rooster gives 100% blue? But then I have no idea what that (mostly black) rooster really was. That's one reason I switched out for the BO.
Yup, he's one of my Blue AndalusiansBtw - your avatar is an Andalusia blue? I just saw those for the first time. The hens look really nice to me.
Sounds like fun.Your too is a beaut. It is fun mixing up breeds to see what you can come up with. A couple of years ago, I did some mixing and got some EE mixed hens that are some of my best layers. I have four of them, and I get at least 3 out of 4 if not 4 of there eggs a day. One is all white. One is white with blue. One is white, red and lavender. And the last one is white, red, and porcelain.
