Just thought I would put in my 2 cents. Yes, our country has a lot of problems. I am not minimizing anyone's concerns, we are all free to worry about whatever we choose. That said, I am descended from people who came to this country and were persecuted. I am descended from Italians who were scoffed at as 2nd rate citizens when they first arrived. I am descended from Mormons, and I think we all know what they went through. Some of my best friends in high school were a hispanic, a gay and an exchange student from South Africa. They are all outstanding, wonderful people. It is easy to fall into the "find someone to blame for all of our problems" way of thinking, but I am trying to teach my children to see all people as unique individuals, not as "hispanics", "blacks or "asians" etc...
My great great great great great grandmother was a Mormon who walked from Navoo, Il to Salt Lake City (before it was a city), pregnant and carrying her toddler on her back. At times she helped to pull a hand cart. Persecution based on religion (or lack thereof), color, legal status in the US, or any other charecteristic like it is wrong, and makes me sick. Lets worry more about the people who are harming others. Just MHO.
