Yellow legs are a D/Q per the PROPOSED APA Standard but since the breed has yet to be admitted to the Standard I'm not certain how that would be handled.

So does this mean that only clean legged marans should be shown for APA standards in this country? Or can they be feathered legged (per french standard) and still be shown or does that matter?

Yeah, another great question to bring up!

The BCM's legs and feet are black. We are talking about the bottom of her feet, they are a yellow color. I would love to get pics, and I will, but we're in the middle of a rainstorm right now!

Yes those are ONE of the proposed standards the ones i posted are the standards that are supported by the french which is where Marans are from.

Also, marans come in both CL and FL varieties and both can be shown. (FL is what are usually refered to as French marans and clean legged are the english version of marans)

If the OP wants to show in France, then the French standard is the only one they need to worry about. If the OP wants to show in the US, then the proposed APA standard is the one they really need to worry about. The standard posted on the MCCUSA site is the one being considered by the APA.

LOL I don't think I'll be heading to France anytime soon!

I guess till the APA sets a standard I'll keep both the English and French varieties. Seeing the clean leggers aren't gettin too much love over here in the States. At least dollar wise per egg or bird. Everyone wants the feathered leggers.
