Are Marans SHOWABLE?

Shadow just enter him as a Splash variety. I would dress him up and just take him as though he were going to be a star. One just never knows. Judges may not have a standard before them but they are eager to learn of them as all of varieties of marans.
If you need a standard to take to the show and a french standard picture of a splash to show a judge then I would be more than glad to send you one.
Just email me at [email protected].
I see it is another standard I need to get set up on the club site. My works never done LOL
Good Luck.

Thanks so much for the advice! I will email you soon about getting pics. I really love the Marans for their personalities and colors. They are very sweet.

Here are pics of the Splash cockerel (he is a Bev Davis bird):

The hen in question ,having yellow shanks, should be disqualified. If used for breeding ,to a correct Marans male, ½ of all the chicks born will continue to carry this fault.

Shadowhills, David is right about the yellow shanks as far as showing. It should be DQ'd
I'm sorry I over looked that post if that is what is on your splash you are showing.

Does the splash have the yellow shanks or another bird. I see you showing feet of a bird that does not look like a splash?

The feet pics in an earlier post with the yellowing is a Black Copper Maran. The only places that I see the yellowing is in between her toes and on the bottom of her feet.

The Splash Maran (I believe) has grey leg shanks and feet.
