No, normal men who are interested in you will make a point of being around when you are around. And showing up more or less on time, and only break dates for dying grandmas.

Note of warning: When I gave up on ex-BF Adam ever pulling his head out, and the Rumor Mill circulated the rumor back to him that I had been dating a few other guys, all of a sudden one evening he showed up at the door wanting to hang out. A relative told him, sadly, that I had found better things to do. Then I got a snotty phone call or three to the effect of, "He CAN'T be better than me!" Amazingly, being better than Adam was not difficult.

I think he's trying to be a "player" hiding behind the internet so no one finds out he's a bum. I know so many people - men & women both - who have been burned by people who used the net to disguise their true selves. Better a jerk with more self esteem than he has any right to than a serial killer, I suppose!!!
