Are my 2.5 & 3.5 wk chicks old enough to explore a penned in area outside, 70°

Wondering if I should take them out of the brooder to get some fresh air and explore a grassy patch in my yard, or should I just bring some dirt clumps into their box? It's been chilly here but today it's supposed to get into the low 70s
The older ones have lots of feathers but the smaller ones still have a lot of fuzz

Dirt clumps will let them build some immunity to your soil before going out full time. Or yes take them out but maybe not all day yet.

Temp is fine... provide a huddle box so they can get shade or feel secure if needed.

We hardly EVER hit 70... that would be a heat wave. My chicks all ages are moved outside around 50 degrees... you should be fine.

They will love it... once they calm down from the seeing a huge new scary world. :)

Thanks for the reply and the suggestions... It's just what I needed to have a little confidence to let them explore.. I'm a worry wart.lol

A lot of us here are also. ;)

Be aware hawks and even crows will steal chicks. They aren't always present and some seasons are worse than others as well as locations.

They should be pretty good. :thumbsup

ETA: Pics always welcome. :pop:D

I stayed out with them for about an hour.. they weren't sure at first, but warmed up to it within 15 minutes. They enjoyed a couple worms and bugs.
Today was the first day I noticed a few of the chicks sneezing... One of them even got some on me lol.. should I be worried?!?

Probably from being outside different things they have explored may cause their nose to be a little itchy.
