Silkies are DANGEROUSLY broody!!! And they love communal nesting, but aren't dominant enough to keep others from getting in and laying fresh eggs in their weeks old nests. I have found as many as 4-5 Silkies in a communal nest with over a hundred eggs they are attempting to hatch. I think only the size of the area they chose is what kept more than that from being in the same nest.
