My ducks just started laying this month. I have some cambells, a pekin, and a black and white swedish. Two of them have been laying for a month or so now, and a third just started. The new one has laid two black eggs so far. When washed, it fades to a charcoal grey.

We planned to eat it.

Eating your duck seems just a might bit severe, as punishment for merely layin' two black eggs ~'-)

Well......? Did you find out who played the trick on you...I'm betting it was your dad. Unless you have some ducks you never mentioned. It kind of looked spray painted to me. But then, I dont have ducks.

I disagree, unless you consider the deceptions of a wild bird species to be a trick ... it appears to be the egg of the Greater Emucayuga, as explained and pictured in this post.
