We have a mated pair of Embden geese. They are now four months old. Our goose is fifteen pounds and our gander is close to twenty. For the last few days our duck has been trying to climb on the back of our goose and has been grabbing her neck feathers and her wing. We've just kind of laughed about it because obviously our duck is in no way going to do the deed with the goose. However, today as our gander was floating in a small tub on the patio our goose started biting at him and pulling his feathers on his neck. Then she proceeded to grab his neck feathers and pull herself on his back. Once there she grabbed his wing and started trying to pull out his feathers. The whole time she was talking to him. Is she just confused or is this some kind of mating ritual? I'm sure confused.

I would think their practicing but I'm not sure but I've seen my male goose try mating with one of my female ducks haven't seen him trying to hop my other goose. I've also seen my female ducks try mating with each other.
