When could I float test them?

You should never float test eggs. If you want to check you can candle. If any of your eggs are alive float testing will kill them. I tried it once and all of my beautiful healthy eggs died. You can float test eggs for eating to see how old they are, but never do it with fertile ones. Float testing is very unreliable also.

Also unreliable.
No reason at all to ever float any egg. but, yes, especially incubating eggs.

Yeah I've never float tested any eggs for eating I like candling the best.

You should always turn them an odd number of times a day. So either 3 or 5. That is so the embryo doesn't lay on the same side for several nights in a row. Are they Japanese or Coturnix? Japanese are also called button quail

Button Quails are Chinese Painted, or King quails. Not Japanese.
Sorry to butt in like this, but gotta keep information Correct.

Button quails are also coturnix, but not the same as the Japanese coturnix.

Im hatching some buttons\kings\chinese painted . Ikr all same but 3 names here's a pic and I'm on day 9 his veins are wiggling like snakes ! Buttons are smaller then even bob whites

They look nice. I'm hatching a tiny little bantam egg that's about the same size as those.
