Just checked the Windsor area, and there are chickens for sale by breeders.

Here is a question. How do I tell a true breeder from someone who is breeding from hatchery stock? Something I come across in my dogs all the time. People breeding backyard dogs that are not from good "breeding stock". Or people who buy from reputable breeders (who always put non-breeding contracts on dogs!) under false pretenses then use those dogs. Often the dogs placed in pet homes are there since they are not show, working or breeding quality. (I call these people puppy producers, not breeders)

It is hard to tell these people from reputable breeders. I tell people to look for breeders who do health checks for genetic diseases in their breed, breeders who work with their dogs and those who have a "reason" for that particular litter.

I have no idea how to tell reputable breeders from "egg producers".
