Depending on the age and size of the turkeys, they can defend themselves; while mine are either very brave or very stupid they have neve taken any BS from my dog. my guys will clean out the dog food in no time at all with the dog watching and with the dog tries to defend her food, she get's a peck on the nose and the dog gives in!!
Mind you this is the same dog who has taken out a rooster and caught at least two hens (the dog is 1 year old golden retreiver) so this is not a dog to be trusted around poultry.
The only time I am concerned about my turkeys are in the evening when they are sleeping, but even then I doubt a house cat could take them down, my bronze breasted guys are just a hair over 5 months old and are large (most likely due to te dog food they steal!), I'm not sure how the similer aged Royal Palms compare in size.
With all things considered, if possible if it was me, I would suggest talking to your preacher about your belief of the transgressions of his cat and at least start with the concern that you believe his cat is causing a problem and it needs to repent!!
Also, I could see any cat being curious about chickens/turkeys BUT my first thought would be raccons, possums and a variety of other critters, how old were the ducks? Just as a matter of thought, just because you see a cat around the coop, doesn't mean that it's the guilty party.
