Are people ever surprised that you own chickens?

I don't know, but I bet the dogs inside there would be happy to hear a squeaky toy (the rooster)

I get pre-judged quite a bit. Probably because I have a shaved head, full beard, sport tattoos and ride a Harley.
Plus I'm over 50 and go to grad school with kids half my age.

Once they find out that I'm not so "scary" and start to open up they are still amazed that I have chickens. I get a kick out of their surprise.

Oh, there's an idea. I did get a gift card for PetsMart as a Christmas gift.

OMG, I am totally going to do that! My daughter is always bringing her ferret or her rats anytime we go to Petsmart. I think it would be so funny to take in one of my chickens. Maybe I'll even put one of my little dog's "blingy" shirts on it! The reactions would be priceless!!!!
