Maybe the OP would like to change the title to "Are people really this
uninformed about chicken biology?"
Ignorance means you do not know something whereas stupid means you are
unable to learn it. I've seen lots of ignorance, including willing ignorance, but usually folks are able to learn about chickens.
The discussion is getting off track, so let's get back on track here, please.
City folks are uninformed about country things and vice versa and it doesn't stop with just chickens. I lived in the city as a kid, but my dad bought us a pony, which we boarded, then brought home to play with on weekends. He'd on occasion stake her out in the front yard to graze. One day a boy rode up on a bicycle, about my own age, I guess, and asked if that was a cow.
I could not understand how someone didn't know the difference between a pony and a cow, but then, I played on my grandfather's farm all the time, so had different experiences.
