From brown cows of course. LOL

Im still trying to figure out where strawberry milk comes from.. I havent seen any pink cows around. They must be rare. Or does it come from white cows that eat to many strawberries..

Some people..

I heard some people in the store once. They were in the vegi section. One kid picked up a carrot and said. I think this is a carrot. The other kids said, no carrots come in cans.. The mom just picked up a few vegis and put them back. Then walked to the canned food isle. I laughed so hard I had to leave the store.

I was not unobservant. I knew how dogs and humans mated - I wasn't born knowing that chickens work the same way.

I think sometimes people will grasp onto anything just to feel superior to others.

Hiker chick, I'm sorry I offended you, don't know why you would be offended. If you are a nurse, sorry but so am I so I wasn't making this direction to nurses in general. I guess I was just astounded to think that is how they thought some chickens were mated. This does not make these nurses dumb in nursing or caring for patients. They are excellent nurses and I was not trying to appear superior to them or anyone else. I was just making a general comment.

...they're/their/there or you're/your... How do you make it through 8 years of college and not get that?

Ummm...I thought that was elementary?

That is in elementary, of course... how do you get through elementary, then high school, then college, then post-grad, and STILL not have been correctly taught, was my point.

My SIL took the slimy, whitish looking thing that surround the egg yolk off of the egg every time she cooked them. I think it's the end of the yolk sack that gets twisted off before it's in the shell....I don't know for sure. Anyways, she took that part out, because she said it was "chicken sperm"....I asked her how she thought it got there....there are no holes in the egg!!! LOL!!!! I, too, used to think the roo fertilized the egg after it was layed. I never really cared to know otherwise, and I had always been told that birds don't mate. Haha, everyone laugh....LOL!!!!

Sum of us are dum.....

Honestly, I really don't see how you can compare apples to apples when talking about bird reproduction compared to mammal reproduction.

About the only common trait is sperm and eggs. Delivery system and gestation are pretty far apart. If you know how mammals reproduce, I wouldn't think that would give you a clue about how birds do it.

That is, if I know what I'm talking about. Now I'm not so sure.

You would think that RNs had taken a basic biology course... maybe it didn't stick?

I never cease to be amazed at people who have their masters degrees yet can't spell simple words like they're/their/there or you're/your... How do you make it through 8 years of college and not get that?

I'm not knocking someone who was never exposed to something so doesn't know it-but I have basic expectations of what someone who has been through higher education should know, you know what I mean?

maybe that is the problem, taking 8 years of college to get a masters (usually takes an additional 2 after undergrad...).

From my experience in grad school you didn't have to be horribly smart to be accepted or earn your degree, there was another student on academic probabtion that wa accepted:rolleyes:

Are people really this stupid with chicken biology?
Hey, I'm calling "fowl" on this one.
I thought this was a place of tolerance and acceptance?

That some people do not know bird physiology or reproduction may be more a function of the culture we live in, as opposed to them being stupid.

Here at BYC we preach to the choir. Out in the world, you must avoid that and accept that many have not heard "the message." Be a light in the dark for them - not a hot poker in the eye.
