Are raw pine tree logs poisonous to chickens?

No way...pine trees are POISONOUS to chickens...my cousin’s in-law’s ex-neighbor once had a chicken and a big pine tree fell on one and it DIED!

Could you cut the trees now, and let the wood age a bit before using?

I was wondering if, cut down, I could use those pine logs to build a coop and run.

Will you use 'round logs' or mill into lumber?

The bark might be a problem if you can get red mites in your area. Between the bark and the trunk is a perfect hiding place for red mites. So I would take the bark off before using the wood for any construction or pot lids.

I get large flake pine shavings so they can't eat them as easily.

Also, my chickens scratch through pine needs AND they got our (real) Christmas tree last year. They were happy and healthy

Pine is not poisonous. I'm doing the same thing, building everything out of pine I felled. Cheaper than what Lowes or Home Depot wants for their pine boards. I've read other forums about this. It's funny to see the dumb clucking replies.
