Are there any decent breeders/hatcheries in central Florida? Lakeland/Plant City/Winter Haven/Mulber

I live in Mulberry and tried the Tractor Supply in Plant City first, who are now out of chicks until next year then went to Craigslist and looked under the Farm and Garden section. I found a lady in North Lakeland. She doesn't have a website but she has a really cool chicken farm and has at least two dozen breeds of chickens ranging from; White Faced Black Spanish, Leghorns, Blue, Rhode Island Reds, Buff Orpingtons, Guinea Hens, Frizzles, Silkies, etc, etc. She was out of turkeys or else I would have gotten one. Darnit! ;)

She has eggs, chicks, adult chickens, gamebirds and raises them with antibiotic water, medicated feed and heat lamps while small, then weans them off it as they're older and puts them outside. Here's a pic of her biz card she gave me. Hope that helps you out.

I have gone to her too. I have several chickens from her and they all are doing wonderful! She will give you a tour of all of her chicks.

Yeah, that's her Dragonfroggy!

I thought maybe my friend and I were just special and got that grand tour. LOL....I went with a buddy and wow I couldn't believe all the different chickens she had and helpful information. It's always nice to pick the brains of people who know their specialty and soak up information (whether it be; chickens, farming, bees, working on cars, technology, etc). She has really interesting ways of catching and storing rain water to let chickens drink, storing food in PVC pipes cut in half to feed chickens outside of cages, and using dog cages with 2 x 4's to elevate them off ground as small coops. Really inventive and creative and/or recycled uses of things there.

Pjangle, I agree. Love getting all the info I can from anyone willing to share. I'm glad you found her. I've gone back to her twice and she has had everything that I wanted to each time I've gone .
she is pretty funny also she always jokes with my kids each time I bring them , she's always excited and says I'm glad that these young chicks have come to see this old hen ,lol.

I got some chickens from her today. Shes great! I love her! The tour is just wonderful. I love my new Silkie and Cochin:)
