Are there any Houdans that look like the APA standard?

I'm not sure about the color -- color genetics in chickens is SO complicated! But I wonder if the size issue might partly resolve itself through hybrid vigor? In other words, even though both the Dorking and the Houdan parent might be undersized, I wonder if the cross might bring the offspring up closer to where they should be?

ETA: Could start with white Houdans and white Dorkings? That would take color out of the issue at all; get type back, and then do some judicious crossing to the mottled Houdans?

I see. My hen is a very lightweight chicken, even though she's not underweight. I would love to help improve the breed, once I get more than one Houdan, haha.

come in kind of late on this one, but here's mine. They are bantam sized, but personally, I dont think there's much that could be improved on on these, they came form one of the top crested breeders in the country. Also getting a few whites in bantam as well.

We were looking at the 1904 standard to begin with. These would be too mottled, not the right color at all, too much white, white tails etc. See the link I posted above that was on photobucket, those are the closest I could find to that standard.

yep, these are pretty much the norm now a days though, 100 years of breeding and they get a little different.
I see you are looking for crevies too. I have them as well but they are in bantam size too.

Well that was the main question asked, were there any more that looked like the 1904 standard and I found those pictures on photobucket so I guess there are some somewhere.
By the way, I think yours are beautiful but I would dearly love to have some of those that I found on photobucket. They almost look like a different bird.
I am kind of wanting standard crevecoeurs but I would love to see pictures of yours anyway.

But see, that's just it -- standard Houdans are supposed to be heavier than standard Polish. They've lost size, at least it seems like most of them have. They were bred to be a dual-purpose bird with the emphasis on their meat qualities originally.
