Are there predators to goats?

I don't have any goats, but was wondering whether there are animals (like foxes, raccoons, or birds of prey) who will kill pygmy goats? Usually I see people free ranging their goats, so I figure there must not be any danger in it?

In Indiana our main predator would be Coyote, and DOGS!!

Yes, goats do indeed have preditors. Coyotes and dogs here in Alabama are also the main preditors. Even dogs that are family pets can and sometimes do injure or kill goats.

Coyotes and dogs are an issue; however, we have had coyotes literally walk over our sleeping goats to get to the chickens. Needless to say, we have an electric fence now, after losing about 20 chickens.

Yes there are many predators who would like to have yer goats. Especially any babies. Depending on where you are you need to beware of coyotes, cougars and big birds of prey. Electric fence will help with coyotes but keep in mind that a cougar can clear a fence easy with a kid in it's mouth. One of the best ways to keep cougs away is eliminate any cover they can hide in.

Our goats were killed during the winter by a bear. Our goats were 200+ lb. nubian wethers and the bear was able to take each down and dragged one about 50 feet into the woods. We later saw that bear and he is absolutely huge. A couple days after killing our goats, he appeared down the street from us, killed a couple more goats and tried to take out a miniature horse before getting shot. He managed to survive the gunshot wound, but I don't think he'll be around long if he keeps killing off livestock.

Coyotes, dogs, wolves, and mountain lions will also kill off goats. Before we had that incident, I had never really thought anything would be able to kill our goats!

I'm glad I don't live anywhere where there are those types of animals, if I were ever to get goats (I'd love 2 whether pygmy goats

) Well except for dogs but dogs never get in our yard and the goats would have a secure pen so they wouldn't get loose.

We've only had one little goat before, and he was killed by two of the neighbor's dogs
