Are these barred rock hens or roosters?

We can already tell you 100% that all are roos, barring is sexlinked which makes the roos lighter than the the hens, even dereck, he may be het. barred or just back quality barred, but he is a boy. I think you should keep on of the lighter ones, they look like pure Barred Rocks, and get him a couple hens.

Yep, as the others have said; they are without a doubt, all boys.

Thank you to everyone for all your helpful (if depressing) advice. Derek, Mildred and Dulcie (or should I say Derek, Milton and Dougal) will now be auctioned off on New Zealand's E-bay to the highest bidder. Or given away to anyone who wants them really.

Any tips on breeds that can be sexed at a day old so I don't have the same problem again?

Three roos, but if I'm wrong don't sue me. But they all look masculine, are very developed in the comb & wattles, and have some monster shanks on them. My bet is none of the three will be laying at all.

These are dayold Barred Rock pullets. They have a solid back, smaller headspot and darker legs.

These are the roos, they have as smoky back, larger headspot, and ligher legs.

Or you can go for the red or black sexlink hybrids that easier to sex.
