I have never seen these worms before nor ran into this problem in my 5 years of having chickens, however after checking one of their waterers I noticed their was a ton of tiny black worms swimming in it.
I usually change out their water every few days and keep it clean, however theirs a big waterer in the coop I only usually ever change out once a week and dump out the tray to get out the dirt or standing water in the tray they drink out of. However I have been very busy lately, and although I have been taking care and refreshing the other 2 waterers, this one has completely slipped my mind allowing it to become dirty and without having the water refresh in quite a bit. Are these worms harmful to my chickens? Will I need to worm them? If so, how? Thanks!
