are these cockerels?

I agree... Poor breeding or sorting can cause funky feathers, but that comb? That is one big, red comb for a month old chick

Yeah definitely.... I'm not too savvy on "Hatchery" breeding.... The way I understand it is that it's like a Co-op of farmers that sell their fertile eggs to the Hatchery... So I suppose there's a big possibility that the breeding could be a wee bit less controlled lol ;)

Going back to chickie poo right out of the shell lol, a pullet BR would have the dot on the head, male would have more of a ring, splash on the legs, males none, and the barring... That LOOKS like a pullet! Lol but that COMB!

But then I look at the pics that we've all shared and I see color differences in just our pullets... Pictures don't do justice around here ha-ha ;)

I change my vote lol, THAT is a cockerel.

Hey guys heres an updated photo of one of the ones I think is a roo. His/hers comb has gotten redder and bigger and red wattles are starting to develop and its breast feathers coming in have a lot of white on them so I'm pretty much 100% convinced its a cockerel

Ok lol there it is, bottom pic lol... Look at the barring on his chest... It's coming in even, the black and white... Roo ;)

Here's an odd question.... Does everyone else's Barred Rocks have yellow eyes? It may be nothing, but this "cockerel" has green eyes... Does that tell what the breeding may be? Just wondering.....

they are from cackle and they breed their own birds there's tons of videos on YouTube of all their flocks, pretty weird seeing a video of a room full of like 300 d'uccles or silkies haha

These?

Lol I have had some good entertainment there; odd looks from the DH about the racket and my laughing... THAT IS A LOT OF CHICKENS ROFL... My ears are ringing! ;)

Wow that was educational! Obviously they should look just like those ha-ha :D..they were in a building, so the roosters looked darker than they probably are, but nice looking birds :)

Yup those vids :) I've spent a couple hours probably at least watching all their breeds ya definitely have to turn the volume down for those videos haha I've noticed they are like the only hatchery that does this I think its awesome being able to actually see the parents your birds came from I just ordered a bunch of polishes and silkies from ideal and its pretty hard to find just pictures of those

Here's a photo of the suspected from today hasn't really changed much in the comb area just gained some more weight as you can tell from the third pic
