Are these EEs or Ameraucanas???

He's just not nice to my other roos. I don't have him with the hens right not, so I'll have to see. He's the only I would consider keeping, as he is the one I think is prettiest. I'll see how he is with my hens, then I'll decide.
But I won't stand for him abusing on them. Makes me mad!

If you get rid of him, send him to me...I'll straighten him out. LOL

Hi Paula,

I'd have to agree with Jean about the Blue Wheaten Cockerel except that the one picture seems to have some coloration in the breast that shouldn't be there and the fact that you got them all from the same person would make me suspect that he's not a full BW Ameraucana since the others obviously aren't.

My guess is that since you got them all from the same place and they are all EE's with the BW cockerel definitely having a lot more standardization in him than they others.

Here is a good rule of thumb: If you get your birds from a hatchery or feed store they are in all probability an EE. If you want a true Ameraucana then you need to go to a breeder.

I breed true Wheaten/Blue Wheaten & hopefully soon Splash Wheaten Ameraucanas. They all lay blue eggs. I'm on the Breeders List at www.ameraucana.org and you can see a picture of my birds on my website. There is a link to my website from my BYC page. You will notice a lot of similarities in my General Lee and Johnny Reb with your bird.

There's nothing wrong with having EE's as long as you know what you are getting and what you have.

God Bless,

Tailfeathers, thanks for the input. I really don't have a problem with having EEs. The hens lay beautiful eggs. I just have too many roos in general, and I am in the process of going through my flock and getting rid of some. It's really hard to do, and I am having a hard time. I don't know where the person these Ameraucana/EEs came from, got them. At the time, I didn't think to ask. I have learned alot since then, so now I would definitely ask before buying. I know that if you get Ameraucanas from a hatchery or feed store, they are probably EEs. I got these from a breeder. I did get some nice birds from this person, but not all. I haven't decided yet if I'll keep him or not. I really like the looks of him, but as I said, he is not a very nice roo, and I don't know if I want to continue putting up with him. I just I have too many different breeds as it is. But I'll see.
I know that normally if Jean says it is, then it is. I'll see if she'll take another look. Thanks so much.

All Am' were bred up from EE's. Pick your best (closest to the standard) and go from there. The Am' breeders can be a bit close-minded when it comes to EE's. I have Ameraucanas in blue and black.

In my opinion, they are all EE's in your pictures, but the first one does look close the the blue wheaton variety, and if that's a variety you like, you can work with that.
