ive just picked up these ducks and am unsure what they are...i see a white muscovy couple..but what are the others? mules/crosses? they are incredibly dirty and in good need of a bath!

the one to the far left and the far right look pure muscovy.
i would say the others are crossed.

Yes they will be infertile but the hens may still lay eggs.

...if the mother was a Muscovy and the father was a Mallard-derived breed. If it happened the other way around, the female hybrids won't lay eggs.

:)

ETA -- if there is a big size difference between the hybrid males and the hybrid females, then they're from a female Muscovy. If the hybrids are all about the same size, they're from a male Muscovy.

Wow that is really interesting! I have just penned a bronze Muscovy drake with a dusky pied runner x and an ancona pattern runner x, he has mated them both successfully! But I kinda do like the idea of smaller hybrid females that lay eggs, but Not one of my mallard derived drakes would look twice at a scovy girl.
