are they SERIOUS?!

I had a mouse infestation last year. I had NO CLUE how bad they were until I went into the coop one night & mice were everywhere!!! I started trapping them and lost count around 50. My feed bill went down considerably after that. Plus, it's not healthy for your birds to have a mouse (or rat) infested area.

Do you have a horse that looks extra plump?

Wow, I feel very lucky. My 13 girls take two weeks to eat a 50# bag....they have access to their feed all day and free range and they look a little heavy to me....

When I come home in the afternoon, there is often a squirrel hanging upside down on the feeder stuffing his face as fast as he can. The chickens just stand on the other side of the pen looking at him! I wish they run him off, peck him--something!!

So, I only put in a little more feed that they could eat in a mornning, and then some more in the afternoon.

Also, if we get a blowing rain, the feeder gets wet and I have to dump the feed, so I don't put more feed than necessary.

I agree, that's too much for those few birds. Right now, I have 10 CornishX pullets and about 58 other birds, all 10 wks old. They go through 50# in about 6 days. They also have some treats and grass and stuff to eat.
