I always used the cartons in my old styro. bator, and tried using the cartons in my new Brinsea. I'm not sure it's the best route--gets awful cramped in there. However, I'm with you, Colie, what else to do? I just set 18 Marans and 5 Ameraucana--they are snug. If they all manage to make it to lock-down, I don't think I could lay them all in there flat if I wanted to. Doubt I could use cartons in this case either. What about using the rails without the foam padding??--seems like it would get nasty quick.
Yeah you're right the rails with the foam padding would get nasty quick. The foam could be washed later but idk. It's the space thing I'm worried about too. I'm about to candle and if I don't end up chucking half of them Idk how I'll be able to lay them all flat and then what happens when the chicks hatch? lol I hate hate opening the bator till I'm sure none of them are pipped even then I'd rather wait until I was pretty confident the hatch was over or at least stalled significantly.
