Are You A Brinsea Owner? - April Hatch Along - Prize: Ecoglow Brooder!

You should not open the bator after lock-down, but I have in the past and the Brinsea seems to get humidity and temp back pretty quickly. None of my eggs had piped so I felt it was safe to open my bator for a very short time. We shall see.

During my last hatch in my eco 20 I opened up the incubator between waves in order to remove iddys and spent shells. It helped keep the early hatchers from playing kickball with the eggs, and also gave the ones who hadn't hatched more room once they did. Humidity and temperature bounced back to pre opening levels within a minute or two! I did add a little bit of warm water to the humidity trays though, to speed up the humidity rise, though.

Technically you shouldn't open it during lockdown, but if you are at the very beginning of lockdown and no pips have happened yet you should be fine if you need to rearrange eggs, etc. The worst time to open the lid is when the eggs are pipped, that is when the airflow affects them. I use old cartons all the time, foam or paper it doesn't matter. I have never had problems using them. Hope that helps.

I'm doing Dutch bantams I have about 36 eggs in loll I'll have to count them. In my king suro I have 42 seramas

I'm struggling with temp the dial is not digital
I have 3 thermostats on the go none match lol and the dial even with a slight tweat is pushing 37.9. Then dropping to 36.9

Should it be flashing or stopped??

Guessing humidity too. Adding about 10ml every other day

Nothing about hatching chicks is sterile, so you'll be fine. You want your hands as clean as possible before handling (to remove dirt and oils), but think about where eggs are hatched under a broody hen - it's anything but sterile. Just relax - everything will work out fine
