Are you a fan of production hens or not? If not, why?

I've had Isa Browns in the past. They are sweet and lay well. But, once they hit 2, I started losing them. One lived to about 3, but by then she wasn't consistently laying. They also tend to have more egg laying issues than the average chicken. From what I've read about other hybrids, it's the same - sweet, but expect a short life.

Same as my experience.
I've had several red sex links. Golden Comets, Cinnamon Queens, etc.
