Do you host Thanksgiving every year? Is this your first year hosting? How many guests will you have?

I have never hosted. We always go to the in-laws. I do know that soon it will fall on us.

Just wondering what you all do.

Take care,
Jodie

Yes, this is our first year together, me and my fiance, and my mom has decided to go on strike, so I get to feed 12 people. The good news is we are having it on Saturday after, so I can spend Thanksgiving cooking al lteh breads, pies, applesauce, etc ahead of time. When Saturday comes it's all about the turkey, stuffing and potatoes.

We always did. My grandma wont be coming up this year. I am usually the person who does the carving. I am not big on turkey though but I love stove top stuffing!

I should. My grandma used to make it home made with raisins.

Yum...i love it with raisins!! Never liked stuffing when i was younger but now i love it.

I have made the mashed potatoes for the past ten years or so.....however this year i am letting someone else make them. Hopefully she will screw up and everyone will realize how darn good mine are. hahaha!!!

Yes I seem to cook every year. This year it will be for Me, hubby, 3 kids, 2 grandkids, daughters boyfriend, My best friend Monica from MD and her husband and thier 2 kids (they come and stay 5 days every year), My friend Carla, her Dad and her 2 kids. I haven't tried to add it up am to scared to. I love to cook so it doesn't bother me, but it is a big job. I usually make alot the day before so I just have to stick in oven that day.

This was supposed to be my turn. My mother in law and father in law, three brothers in law with their wives, all of their children, and in two cases, their SO and kids, my mother, two uncles, sister and her partner and my landlady were coming for a grand total of 30 people, including my family. I was raising chicken (ok, not traditional, but it's my first time!) to serve them and was really looking forward to it.

Then my kids were exposed to a contagious disease, one that you can only get once with a healthy immune system, but we have one sister in law who never had it, a father in law and an uncle with compromised immune systems, and multiple cousins whose parents don't want them to get it. Therefore... no thanksgiving. I'm bummed but what can you do? I'll be rescheduling for Chanukah.
