Remember The Best Nest, reading it to your children? Well, I have a 2 days old chick that hatched with a dozen Araucanas I bought. I was told it was a Houdan, from a large white egg. But it doesn't have a 4th toe! So, I am helping this little chick find its mother! Can you help? peep peep peeleeease!?!

Is it a bantam or LF? Did it come from a hatchery or from someone who hatches their own eggs?

I don't know what LF means, however, it was not a bantam. I bought them a woman who has 8 breeds in separated coops. I was told it was a Houdan and was given it as a gift when I bought a dozen Cream leg bar and Araucana. As you can see this little guy doesn't have the extra toe. She has Araucanas, Silkies, Sultans, Houdans, Cream Brabanter, Cream Legbar, Appenzellers and blue and French Black copper Marans. Since it hatched from a fairly large white egg, I eliminated the Marans and CLB and Araucana. I research cjhick pics of the other breeds and the Brabanter looks similar, but not a goo match. I have tried to reach the seller by phone, text, email, and FB to no avail. I'm stumped. Any guesses?

Cream brabanter isn't a bad match either though. The only other of her breeds that might fit is a gold spangled appenzeller, but the colour looks off.

Editing to add: do I see muffs and a small crest? And if so, are you 100% sure that the breeder has araucana (no tails, ear tufts, slate legs) and not Easter eggers (tails, beards and muffs, green legs). Also LF = large fowl
It's not a silkie (skin colour, no extra toes)

It's not an araucana (wrong egg colour)

It's not a houdan (no huge crest, don't think they come in that colour, no extra toes)

Not a Sultan (again no obvious huge crest, pretty sure they don't come in that colour)

Not a legbar (egg colour)

Not a marans (egg colour, clean legs, colour)

Farrier... thanks for taking the time to pass on those notes. I looked at the hens and roos from the seller and they had no tails and did have breads and blue/green eggs. Only one of those eggs hatched. My guess also is the Cream Brabanter. Guess I better read up on those. It is aggressive and has a bump at the top of his beak. Will be interesting. Not what I wanted to breed, though.
