Are you pro-icing, or against?

A thin layer of icing is o.k. - but spare me the thick, gloppy frosting that some folks just love to put on their cake. I really prefer a made from scratch cake that has no frosting at all, like a good pound cake.

I love cake..and pie, cobbler, cupcakes!!!
I like frosting but only the whipped cream or cream cheese variety. I absolutely cring at the thought of the nasty icing made with crisco and powdered sugar.

I'm not a big fan of butter cream icing, either. So, I guess it really depends on the icing. I love lemon cake with pineapple filling, frosted with cream cheese frosting and coated in coconut.

Ummm. Poundcake. I have a great lemon poppyseed poundcake recipe. When it's still warm you coat it in a warm lemon juice and sugar glaze that soaks into the surface of the cake, cools and making it tangy, crunchy happiness.

I do not like frosting that has been sitting out, getting hard and nasty gritty tasting.

I love whipped topping but each store has their own version of frosting. WalMart has the best in commercial cakes both in cake and frosting.

Homemade cakes and homemake frosting, hands down, they can NOT be equalled or compared, bar none!

How about icing made of cornstarch, shortening, sugar, and butter? We beat it in a mixer till fluffy. It's meant to be that creamy filling inside cupcakes but it's wonderful on cakes!
