Are You Stocking Up On Food?

The news last night was particularly depressing. The harvest of grain, fruit and vegetables was about 15% down here in UK due to a very dry spring and a very wet summer. Inevitably prices will rise. The Governments measures to reduce debt mean another increase in petrol prices which is already nearly £6 a gallon! In Spain the Red Cross are appealing for food donations to help feed the massive numbers of unemployed people. Greece really is on the verge of bankruptcy now. Ho hum, here we go again.

I liked the comment that Hinotori made about canning foods that are frozen if power is out too long. You don't have to be ultra paranoid to have contingency plans thought out in advance.

Rebel mentioned cooking on a car's engine which reminded me, at it's most basic level, a solar oven can be put together with a metal box of some kind (a metal garbage, popcorn tin, etc...), aluminum foil, cardboard and scotch tape. Of course it takes sun as well but you'd be amazed at how much heat can be focused from the light of the sun.

Luckily, China is holding so much of our currency that they cannot dump it all at once. They have to let it into the market slowly.

The idiots running our banking and treasury systems cannot see light. Times are tough, so they print a lot of money to increase the money supply to stimulate our economy. The treasury sells bonds to the Fed. Interest rates are set so low that it is like giving away the use of the money. Banks take this cheap money and they lend it out to China.

Our government has stimulated the economy -- of China.

Remember B of A loaned its TARP money out to China?

China turns around and buys US companies to gain technology, patents and access to markets. Well, then the manufacturing jobs go overseas, and we are stuck drawing unemployment and food stamps and waiting for jobs that will never come back. Most people don't even realize what has happened.

Worse, China takes this phony money and lends it back to the US public at usurious rates. Remember those horrible rates on credit cards?

HSBC is a Chinese bank created by the union of two Chinese banks that then bought Midland Bank of the UK.

Just because a company has an American sounding name and used to be a US company, that doesn't mean that it is now. If you want to know who really owns the company, just look where the product is made.

I remember this and it really scares me. I was waiting to be shipped out to Viet Nam when this happened. I probably was the only person glad to go to Viet Nam.

There was a horrible acrid smell all across the valley.

I remember that all too well. I was a stewardess for National Airlines at the time, and we had to fly over Watts to land. After deplaning everyone, I found the flight crew standing around the tail of our plane looking up and pointing to something. I asked what they were looking at; they pointed to a bullet hole in the tail.

We also had to drive around Watts to get to our hotel in Santa Monica. Took 4 times longer than usual.

My cousin used to fly for TWA. He flew regularly to and from Veit Nam during that war with troops and supplies. He said he got more bullets in his airplane flying over the USA than he did over Veit Nam.

I believe it's just common sense to stock up food and supplies....there are so many things that can go wrong. Lose a job, economy tanks and food costs rise, income does not, bad weather, natural events, unnatural events, god forbid a war here ......... you name it. We get tornadoes, flat line winds, and ice storms that will knock out power for days.. we had a blizzard in 78 (anyone remember that one)... we were stuck in our home for a week before we could get out.

Just remember, government cannot give any thing to someone without first taking it from someone else. "This is for the needy, not the greedy." And now a parasitic situation is established. But what happens when the host no longer can support the parasites? It either dies or becomes a parasite itself.

I have a feeling things will be getting worse.
