Are You Stocking Up On Food?

I only expect that sort of statement from some very specific people. It is quite amazing to me that this country had the closest presidential election with Bush/Gore and there were no real disturbances of any kind. But with Obama we have our dear friend from Georgia (and some others) predicting riots if he loses; while at the same time some genius in Lubbock, Texas is asking for more federal aid and troops because they are predicting riots if he wins. I guess it is a case of darned if you do and darned if you dont.

Geez, reading this thread makes me think some of you will be disappointed when the apocalypse never comes.
Cupman, if things go smoothly then my prayers have been answered. I'll be so happy I'll be like King David, I'll dance at the entrance to the city. . . . .nekkid. Of course unlike King David I'll get arrested and get my bare butt thrown in jail.

JD, I think all of us can agree that we want everything to go well... even though we get a little crazy in the process.. I just can't help but see the things other people say and find them to be irrational things you hear from a scared person. Now, I'm not trying to diss FOX because I'm a liberal, I'm dissing them because they don't even attempt to hide their bias. I watched them the other day as I watch them a lot of the time(morbid curiosity) but I noticed during one of their commercial breaks they had an infomercial and it was a thing about "preparing for the apocalypse" and a book about what you should do to protect your money when the country fails. It was full of graphs and statistics coming at you faster than you could even decipher them(30 second timeslot) and the end wanted you to buy their book for just a few easy payments + shipping and handling in order to not lose all of your earnings... I have never seen anything so ridiculous on any other network and I can't say that I believe it is a coincidence. Fear is a strong emotion to exploit.

You know what will happen if it all goes to crap? The sun will come up in the east and go down in the west. I will carry on working on my farm like always. If I can help people I will, and if they try to threaten me or my family in any way I'll deal with them. Basically nothing changes, except I'll have to work even harder.

Each monkey to its own peanut. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. For me, one civil disturbance was one too many. Like the boy scout, I want to be prepared.

I found this little snippet to be relevant to our current situation. It is from 1948, but still strikes a chord.

This was a very interesting thread before it went political. Pity that had to happen.
