Are your ducks breeds as their standard suggests?

They really are so very different. Interesting that your runner is the most friendly. I've never met a friendly runner - consider yourself lucky!
I can hear my Cayugas muttering as we speak from all the way in the kitchen with the doors closed. They are all the way down in the field at the creek. LOUD, LOUD birds. They really are amazing layers, though so I can't complain!

What about my indoor runner!!! She's the most friendly ducky around :) We cuddle everyday. Although she is a runner mix. (Either mixed w/ buff or kc:idunno) She had a fawn and white runner mom though and her runner is dominant!

Gil is a runner mix (as listed above!)...
She is kind of loud and I can get her excited and she'll get really loud! She knows night and morning time to be quiet time though. She's really smart! She's super affectionate which could just be due to her being an indoor duck from day 1 and thinking her human parents are her real parents. She can be a little bit... um... rude I guess I could say to strangers.... She tries biting onto the end of their shirt or sweatshirt sleeves and get's a little loud... Usually she's really sweet though! She makes the cutest faces too and her runner body is just too cute

Tss no friendly runners!

Here they hop on your lap if you are not carefull!

And unfortunately I don't have any pictures of when we accidentally forget that the door is open and they just suprise hop on us on the couch when watching TV or standing next to our bed trying to get in while we sleep :')

Well.. 'friendly'. We call them more spoiled brats. Everyone that comes here they pull them by their trousers demanding snacks. And when they make the mistake to give them snacks and after that are sitting they might be in danger that they jump on their laps. Or shoulder.

I guess we are both right about the term 'friendly'.

Our are all a little weary of new people, terrified of our dogs and cats, and trusting enough to eat from our hands. We have a Cayuga that is a darling. My neighbors also said they sound like they are all laughing! The others are pekin, fawn Ancona, magpie, and unknown mixes.

If friendly means; do they fear human contact. Then they are friendly.
If not friendly means; Do they force human contact to dominate you and want everything exactly their way not having emphaty for any others they might hurt in the proces; that is true also. Then they are not friendly.

My indoor runner is the friendliest duck!!! It's all about how they're raised and cared for. There was never a day my little girl wasn't happy to meet new people and very friendly, literally since day 1! She didn't live a 'normal' duck life though. She was constantly with us and meeting the people around us. She loves her human companions and likes to visit other ducks nearby but she eventually runs back to the car when she just wants to be with her humans!

I'm sure that being raised as an only duck and imprinting on you/humans has everything to do with that. Looks like you spend a lot of time with her and made her part of your family. Very neat! Love the pic of her and the golden on the stairs - awesome! Is she potty trained?
I love my ducks, but their primary purpose is egg production, call ducks aside. They live in their wetland and provide hours of entertainment and eggs aplenty. They're hardy, fun animals to have around.

Another good example of what can happen if enough time is spent with them. Super cool. Every runner I've ever been around has been crazy skittish, but I still think they're hilarious. Like little bowling pins running about.

Im sure she is so friendly because she was imprinted to humans. Unfortunately it is not possible to potty train a duck because the don't have the muscle to hold it in. They poop when they have to, where ever they are. If she's walking around the room, she'll usually go to her pen if she needs to poop. Once in a while I have to grab a lysol wipe and clean anything up. If she's hanging out for a while, we have duck designated blankets and towels we'll throw down over us, the couch, the car etc. and if she goes to the bathroom, it's on something I can easily shake off outside and throw in the washer. We have duck diapers but I try not to use them... I'll put it on if were going out in public into a store or a persons house. She lives indoors full time and I just feel like it would be so unfair to make her wear a diaper full time. It works out pretty well though and her pen isn't too difficult to keep up with.
